Mt Tamborine contemporary garden

The brief

Design the garden as a true extension of the home: a whole-of-property plan with distinct areas to enjoy across the block. On a hinterland block with views worth framing, the garden needed to do more than decorate the house. It needed to give the family reasons to be outside in every season. That meant planning the whole block at once, not just the spaces closest to the house.

The design

The design creates a series of connected zones around a plunge pool, with feature walls and fountains spilling into the water, warm textures and layered planting throughout, so the built elements feel settled rather than new. Each zone has its own purpose and its own character, but shared materials and repeated planting keep the whole garden reading as one composition. Paths and steps link the zones so the garden unfolds as you move through it, rather than revealing everything at once.

The full design was visualised in 3D before construction, so our clients could see exactly how the spaces would come together before committing to the build. It's the part of the process clients love most: walking through the garden months before the first cut of the ground. It also takes the risk out of the big decisions: pool position, wall heights and sight lines were all tested and refined in the model before the design was locked.
